My spiritual journey and the work I’m doing now with Animal Communication, Energy Healing with Animals, and my Healed by a Horse® program all began several years ago with energy healing in the form of Reiki.
After taking a Level I Reiki class, I went home that night and started doing Reiki with our race horses. Of course, I really had no idea what I was doing back then. I just knew our horses were top record-breaking athletes. My goal was to be able to help them recover faster from injuries and reduce stress for them before, during, and after races. Somehow learning this totally woo-woo energy thing (that I didn’t even believe I was gifted with the ability to do) was going to help them.
My horse Al became my dedicated practice partner. He let me come into his stall that first night and put my hands all over him on the places I was certain he needed healing. Al tolerated me for a few days, as I fumbled my way through the healing sessions. All the while he was looking at me strangely, snuffling at me when I went somewhere he didn’t like. It was all so new to me. I figured he was annoyed with my intuitive inadequacy.
About a week into my daily practices with Al, he decided enough was enough. From that point on, he would back into the corner of the stall as soon as I walked in there. If I went to touch him, he would move away. When I put my hands on him, he pinned his ears. I couldn’t get near him anymore, and I didn’t know why that was happening.
Time to re-evaluate my approach. There I stood in the corner of the stall, doing Reiki on myself. Al clearly didn’t want me working on him, so I worked on myself- -the basic healing method of Reiki. Each day, I continued our time together this way…not intruding on him or even going near him. Honoring his request for space.
A few days later, when I was sitting on the floor in the stall doing self-Reiki, Al came toward me.
He reached his right front leg out to me, lightly pawing the ground in front of me, until I reached out to touch him.
Al was showing me what he wanted from me and where he wanted it. The ankle of this leg had a recurring injury that was visibly bothering him. He knew where he wanted me to offer healing, and showed me where to start!
I was completely flabbergasted! Al continued to show me in our sessions what he wanted and how he wanted it. He was also VERY clear when I did something he didn’t like or if I overstepped my boundaries. Sometimes that meant me doing self-Reiki from afar. Other times, Al was backing his caboose up to me so I would offer healing to his big bum! LOL
Al continued to show me during our sessions how to work with him and how not to work with animals. I was able to transfer that guidance to the healing work I was doing with other animals. My own personal healing and teaching journey has continued by experiencing and learning multiple different modalities and energy healing techniques. Each time I learn something new, I take it back to my animals and ask them how I can do this healing work with them. AND THEY SHOW ME! They have also added in a few new things along the way that no one else has taught me!
Now, Al and the entire Ellison Tribe (Hercules, Nikki, Sophia, Dorothy, Rose, Tica, Magpie and Bandit) work together to help me teach my clients and students about Energy Healing with Animals!
